Communicating in other languages
Your AI can communicate in different languages, making it suitable for creators around the globe and enabling you to support a wider audience of people from multiple countries.
Multi-language communication
Your AI can communicate in writing in more than 50 languages and will automatically respond in the language your client uses to start the conversation.
The voice input feature is also available in English, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.
Multi-language chat interface
As well as your AI responding in your client's language, you can set the default language of the chat interface itself in your AI settings. Choose a default language for your chat to open in from 13 options: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Arabic (shown right-to-left). This covers the whole chat experience, including the sign-up screen, conversation window, chat history, and client account area.
You can also choose whether to let your clients switch to a different language themselves.
Note: The British English or American English option in your AI settings is a separate setting. It sets which spelling and grammar your AI uses when it writes in English (for example, “colour” or “color”), and has no bearing on your AI’s primary language setting.
Adding training content in other languages
In general, your AI will respond in (a) the language that it's spoken to in and (b) the language it's trained in.
You should upload training materials in the language of your choice, usually the one that people will mainly be using to speak with your AI.
You can also write your starter prompts in any language.
Testing language capabilities
To check how well your AI communicates in languages other than English, follow these steps once you've added some training data:
- Go to fine-tuning.
- Write a message in your chosen language.
- Check if the AI responds naturally in the same language.
- Try different types of questions to test comprehension.
