Uploading a CSV file of prompts and completions

As well as uploading documents to the knowledge upload to create prompts and completions, you can upload a CSV file of these, provided they are formatted in the right way.

How to create and upload a CSV file of prompts and completions

  1. Create a spreadsheet.

Add three columns with the following titles in the first row:

  • prompt
  • completion
  • labels

Useful resource: Here's a CSV template you can use.

  1. Add prompts and completions
  • Write the prompts as your clients will write or say them
  • Write the completions as you'd want your AI to answer
  • Make sure each pair makes sense on its own
  • Keep each prompt unique

You can also use AI to turn content into prompts and completions. Check our article on preparing your content for uploading for instructions.

Top tips:

  • Only the first sheet of your spreadsheet will be included in the CSV file.
  • To optimise your AI's performance, the maximum length of any combined prompt and completion pair in your training data is 2,000 characters, though your AI can give longer responses in conversations. If a prompt and completion is too long, break the information into multiple pairs.
  • Some duplicate prompts are okay, as long as the answers don't give conflicting information.
  • Use a consistent style and check for typos.

You can also add relevant labels to help organise your content, separating individual labels with commas (,). This is optional, for your benefit only; the AI won't infer meaning from the labels.

  1. Save and upload
  • Save as a CSV file when complete
  • Upload to training data and click 'save'
  1. Review and edit

You can manually edit the prompts and completions further now if you wish.

Tip: Always click 'save' after making changes in this training room.

A note on links

If you'd like your AI to share web links in its responses, include these in your completions.

Here are three examples of ways to write them:

  1. After your text - For example: "Read about Coachvox at: https://coachvox.ai/"
  2. Within your text - For example: "Visit https://coachvox.ai/contact/ to contact us."
  3. Hyperlinking a word/phrase - Put the word you want to link in square brackets, immediately followed by the url in curved brackets, making sure you include the https:// or http://. For example: "Take a read of our [reviews](https://coachvox.ai/reviews/)"
